Video Descrption Medicaroid (Kobe, Japan) have produced hinotori™ which is the first domestic leader-follower (master–slave) surgical robot. It has several characteristics of ergonomic surgeon cockpit, docking-free system, pivoting and so on. The set-up and management during surgery are a little bit different from those of Da Vinci Surgical System™. However, how to perform the procedures by surgeon is almost similar. Between January 2023 and December 2024, we have used 29 cases of esophagectomy for esophageal cancer without any type of conversion. When their surgical results are compared (hinotori™; n = 29 vs. Da Vinci™; n = 129), the durations of the set-up and forceps change were a little bit longer in hinotori, but there were no differences in the console time, blood loss, number of retrieved lymph nodes and postoperative morbidities between the two surgical robots. In this video using hinotori™, we show comfortable and smooth lymph node dissection along the left recurrent laryngeal nerve, which is considered to be the most meticulous and complicated procedure during radical esophagectomy for esophageal cancer.
