This paper presents a model for ramp capacity evaluation in energy systems, highlighting the need for collaborative optimization and flexibility.
In order to cope with the shortage of system climbing capacity caused by a high proportion of new energy grid connections, this paper proposes a method of grid climbing capacity evaluation and collaborative optimization scheduling. First, the characteristics of climbing events dominated by new energy are defined and a multi-source climbing ability classification system is established. Then, a multi-source collaborative ramp capacity evaluation model, including thermal power, hydropower, and energy storage, is constructed to quantify the dynamic ramp capacity of the system. The example shows that the climbing shortage of a high proportion of new energy power grids presents directional asymmetry and time aggregation (the period of new energy fluctuation). It is necessary to improve the system flexibility through the three-level coordination strategy of thermal power transformation, energy storage expansion, and cross-regional mutual assistance.
