Proposed quasi-Z source switching capacitor converter reduces input current ripple and enhances energy conversion efficiency.
To reduce the problems of large input current ripple, high voltage stress on the switch tube, and low voltage gain existing in traditional DC-DC converters, a new quasi-Z source switch-capacitor high-voltage ratio DC converter has been proposed. This converter combines the quasi-Z-source structure and switch-capacitor technology based on an interleaved parallel structure, which not only has a high step-up ratio and the maximum reverse voltage of the power transistor is relatively low but also has smooth output current and excellent energy conversion efficiency. The working principle, steady-state performance, maximum reverse voltage on the power transistor and diode, and input current ripple of the converter are analyzed in detail. To verify the validity of the new converter’s related theories, a 100 W, 10 V/150 V experimental prototype is built, and the experimental results are in good agreement with the expected analysis.
