Numerical simulations reveal uneven flow distribution and heat transfer in corrugated plate heat exchangers, suggesting optimization for performance improvements.
This study conducted numerical simulations based on the FLUENT software for an LR35GB-corrugated plate heat exchanger, and conducted an in-depth exploration of internal flow and heat exchange characteristics. By constructing geometric models, reasonably dividing grids, accurately setting boundary conditions, and solving related equations, the flow distribution bias flow phenomenon and its impact on heat transfer performance are revealed. The results show that the surface heat transfer coefficient increases linearly; there is uneven flow distribution in the import and export areas, but the heat transfer area tends to be evenly distributed due to the flow equalization effect of the herringbone corrugated plates, and the surface heat transfer coefficient is evenly distributed along the width direction. Based on the simulation results, optimization suggestions are proposed, aiming to improve the overall performance of the heat exchanger by adjusting the corrugated parameters. This study can provide a theoretical basis for the design optimization and industrial application of corrugated plate heat exchangers.
