This talk demonstrates how lipid metabolism affects stem cell function and muscle regeneration, suggesting crucial metabolic pathways.
Cellular metabolism plays a key role in stem cell differentiation and fate determination. Cell metabolism not only provides energy to sustain cellular functions, but also generate metabolites that function as signaling molecules to regulate signaling transduction and gene expression. In this talk, I will illustrate the role of lipid metabolism in skeletal muscle stem cells called satellite cells, and demonstrate how disruption of fatty acid metabolism affects stem cell function and muscle regeneration.
