Analysis reveals the blend of biography and faith in Mark's Gospel, suggesting Jesus as both Teacher and Learner.
Mark’s Gospel insists that the ‘Way of Jesus’ is the ‘Way of Discipleship’. As a ‘macrologia’ in which the dominant genre is the βίος genre, Mark promotes the μίμησής / imitatio of Jesus, the primary character. However, Mark is more than biography, and Adams is right that imitating Jesus is a tall order because in the end he is the Son of God. Even so, Mark presents a Christ who blurs the categories of divine and human. He does not hide the vulnerabilities of Jesus and he often portrays him responding to interruptions and unexpected events along his journey. As such his Jesus is both a Teacher and a Learner.
