Proposed resilient routing improves performance metrics for space-division multiplexing elastic optical networks, indicating effective solutions for growing internet traffic.
The rise of new Internet technologies and applications has exposed the limitations of current photonic networks in meeting the requirements of the next-generation Internet. Space-division multiplexing elastic optical networks have emerged as a solution to tackle this. However, these networks must also incorporate resilient mechanisms to handle today’s enormous data. This study proposes efficient and reliable solutions to address the future growth of internet traffic. The proposed solutions were extensively compared to existing approaches using performance metrics. Results demonstrate their effectiveness in boosting advanced optical networks.
