Analysis shows optimal propulsion force and guidance stability in a permanent magnet-HTS hybrid system.
This paper presents a solution to the challenges with traditional transporter systems in clean rooms using a Maglev Transporter System. This system, the Hybrid Magnetic Levitation System, combines the stability of superconducting levitation with the high repulsive force of permanent magnets which ensures stable levitation and guidance without control. The rails made of Halbach Array permanent magnets enhance the magnetic field above it. Air core propulsion coils along the rail, combined with the High-Temperature Superconductor (HTS), generate a magnetic gradient that drives the transporter. A propulsion force is generated by magnetizing the rear side HTS and demagnetizing the front side HTS of the transporter. This paper investigates the influence between the HTS surface and magnetic field in propulsion force, using an experimental device, two HTS with different diameters, and the coil pitch between the front and rear sides coils. Results show the optimal propulsion force with minimal impact on HTS, confirming the guidance and levitation stability of the system.
