Investigation of heterojunctions in BSCCO with Cu x O, ZnO, and NbO x suggests new device applications.
This study investigates the fabrication of heterojunctions between the high-temperature superconductor Bi 2 Sr 2 CaCu 2 O 8+ δ (BSCCO) and various semiconductor materials, specifically Cu x O, ZnO, and NbO x , using the Metal-Organic Decomposition (MOD) method. The aim is to combine the unique properties of superconductors with those of semiconductors to develop novel electronic devices. We successfully demonstrated that the BSCCO/Cu x O junction forms a good ohmic contact, characterized by linear current-voltage characteristics without rectification. In contrast, the BSCCO/ZnO heterojunction exhibited slight non-linearity but no rectifying behavior, while the BSCCO/NbO x junction presented challenges due to compatibility issues between the materials. This research contributes to the understanding of superconductor-semiconductor interfaces and highlights the potential of MOD for fabricating high-quality heterojunctions.
