Investigating disruptions from climate change and inadequate finance among oil palm processors, suggesting improved measures.
The study investigated the disruptions in the oil palm value chain among processors in Ondo State, Nigeria. The population of the study was all oil palm processors in Ondo State, Nigeria. Multistage sampling was used to get a sample size of one hundred and fourteen (114) processors. Data were elicited using an interview schedule. Data generated were presented as descriptive statistics (mean and percentage) using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) 24 software for analysis. Climate change ( =1.78±0.45) and inadequate finance ( =1.48±0.76) were prominent causes of disruptions along the value chain. Price forecasting ( =2.99±1.62) and improving communication with suppliers of raw materials ( =2.72±1.82) were the most effective measures adopted to overcome disruptions. Cumulatively, they were willing (71.60%) to sustain investment in their investment. Training of processors by both public and private entities on exploring mitigation measures is advocated, as they are proven to address disruptions and promote willingness to sustain investment in oil palm processing.
