Analysis reveals notable differences in private security training regulations and processes in Türkiye and Serbia.
Türkiye and Serbia share similarities in various spheres of social life, so we wanted to explore the similarities and differences in the area of private security and, in particular, in private security training. The authors identified several variables, including supervisory bodies, regulations, types of training, field of study / training branch, age of candidates, level of education, training process, mandatory professional exam, authority responsible for the professional exam, possible exceptions to taking the exam, license validity period, and criteria for managers. By applying the method of 'document content analysis' based on a qualitative re-examination design, the authors concluded that there are fewer similarities than expected and many differences in the field of private security training in Türkiye and Serbia. Similarities were observed only in the areas of supervisory bodies, age of candidates, authority responsible for the professional exam, and license validity period, while major differences were observed in all other variables studied. The main reasons for this include different socio-political circumstances, the geopolitical position of the two countries, the presence of terrorism, etc.
