This work demonstrates a significant improvement in electromagnetic interference shielding using MgFe2O4 nanoparticles, indicating their potential in composite materials.
This work focuses on determining the critical concentration of magnesium ferrite (MgFe2O4) nanoparticles (NPs) with graphene nanoplatelets (GNP) and multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) dispersed in low-density polyethylene (LDPE) medium, to accomplish the material's synergistic effect for improved electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding. The solution combustion method was used to synthesize the magnetic filler MgFe2O4 NPs. At 900 oC, it exhibited a distinct shape and was characterized using different techniques, including a Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM). In addition, MWCNT and graphene GNPs were employed as conductive fillers. An EMI shielding study was conducted on the composite enclosing LDPE, MWCNT, GNP, and MgFe2O4 with different ratios. At 10.3 GHz, the composite sample exhibiting a critical concentration of 50:5:40:5 demonstrates an exceptional shielding effectiveness (SE) value of 34 dB (99.97 %), indicating a significant potential role of MgFe2O4 nanoparticles as a filler in EMI shielding applications.
