Study reveals how spatial characteristics improve satisfaction and social benefits in rural residents.
In the context of the rural revitalization strategy, the optimization of rural public space functions should shift from a form-oriented to a people-oriented approach. This study uses a typical rural public space in Zhejiang as a case to develop a quantitative model linking spatial characteristics, behavioral responses, and benefit outcomes by integrating behavioral analysis with spatial parameters. The aim is to explore how functional design influences residents' behavior patterns as well as the resulting social and economic benefits. The results show, first, that appropriately optimizing the path's curvature radius can improve walking comfort and increase residents' average stay time by approximately 35%, and second, that scientifically designing the inclination angle of leisure facilities improves user satisfaction and significantly enhances residents' willingness to remain in the space.
