This article analyzes economic value in single-industry municipalities, highlighting theoretical approaches and implications for regional economy.
The article is devoted to the generalization of theoretical approaches to the study of the economic value of single-industry municipalities within the economic space of a region. The methodological basis of the research is represented by a set of fundamental principles regarding value as an economic category. Despite the large number of scientific works aimed at studying this category, there is a lack of scientific knowledge interpreting the economic value of single-industry municipalities. The authors of the article present a synthesis of the provisions of economic value theories, based on which the economic content of the value of a single-industry municipality is characterized through its city-serving and city-forming functions. The authors also propose their own interpretation of the concept of “economic value of a single-industry municipality.” The results of the study can serve as a theoretical basis for further research into the economic situation of single-industry municipalities and the determination of their value within the regional economy, as well as for the development of directions for their further strategic development.
