Case series highlights four types of corneal trauma from graphite pencil injuries, suggesting AS-OCT is essential for diagnosis.
Graphite pencil injury is common among children; it may remain quiescent for an extended period of time without causing any reaction in the eye. AS-OCT gives us details about the point of entry, location, Descemet’s membrane (DM) integrity, for foreign bodies, which can remain dormant for a long time. Management includes long-term follow-up of asymptomatic cases. Surgical intervention is planned in cases only where there is a breach in the integrity of DM. We report four different presentations of trauma to the cornea with graphite pencil in children.
