Analysis reveals strong impact of absorptive potential on elastic scattering and fusion cross sections in weakly bound systems.
This investigation includes an analysis of the effects of the short-range absorptive potential W int , included in the Extended Optical Model Framework (EOM) for several weakly bound systems, namely 6 He+ 64 Zn, 9 Be+ 28 Si, 14 N+ 9 Be and 9 Be+ 12 C. In addition to W int , the EOM includes polarization potentials UD, UF, associated with direct and fusion couplings, respectively. The geometric parameters were obtained (for U D ), and the optimization of the corresponding strength parameters was carried out for both polarization potentials using the Sfresco code. A parameterization is obtained, which simultaneously reproduces the experimental data of elastic scattering and fusion cross sections, while the dispersion relation is also satisfied. The influence of this absorptive potential W int has been described by analyzing its effect on angular distributions and reflection coefficients, as well as inspecting the semi-classical deflection function.
