This investigation identifies essential oil compounds in Phlomis herba‐venti, highlighting its sesquiterpene content.
This work constitutes the first comprehensive investigation of the essential oil composition from the aerial parts of Phlomis herba‐venti L. subsp. pungens , collected in Algeria. The essential oil was extracted by hydrodistillation and subsequently analyzed using gas chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (GC–MS/MS). A total of 57 constituents were identified, representing 99.96% of the total oil content. The predominant compounds were (–)‐germacrene D (33.03%), β‐caryophyllene (14.24%), β‐bisabolene (10.53%), and δ‐cadinene (4.35%), mainly belonging to the sesquiterpene class. This detailed chemical characterization provides a foundational basis for future studies focused on the biological and pharmacological evaluation of this essential oil.
