Application of virtual reality technology improves cultural heritage conservation, suggesting innovative exhibition methods.
As the cradle of Chinese civilization, the Yellow River Basin is home to a plethora of invaluable cultural heritage sites. However, these sites face severe challenges from environmental degradation, urbanization, and human activities. This paper explores the application of virtual reality technology in addressing these challenges through an integrated framework that encompasses digital archiving, virtual restoration, and immersive exhibition. By employing advanced technologies such as laser scanning, oblique photogrammetry, and sensor integration, this study developed comprehensive digital twin models to enhance the protection and dissemination of Yellow River cultural heritage. Through systematic empirical analysis involving high-precision equipment testing, long-term case tracking, and large-scale user surveys, the findings confirm virtual reality's potential in achieving sub-millimeter precision data acquisition, significant cost reductions in restoration projects, and enhanced educational gains among users.
