This piece will provide an overview of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) work carried out with ‘Nicholas’, an autistic older adult, by a neurotypical trainee clinical psychologist. The work took place within an NHS secondary care service for older adults. Nicholas identified as a white male who was in his early 70s and newly-diagnosed as autistic. Nicholas was referred to psychology for support with anxiety and low mood in the context of autism.
