Analysis uncovers the distinct linguistic consciousness and cultural image of Australia, revealing its complexities.
In the present study, we pursue the goal of discovering linguocultural units, concepts and plots constructing the image of Australia as a compound concept in the linguistic consciousness of Russian-speaking poets of the state. The main tasks of the study include the analysis of works of Australian poets in Russian to search for linguoculturally and axiologically marked units, the identification of links between them, as well as the description of the mechanism of existence of such a unit as a linguocultural image. Special attention is also paid to the fact that the linguoculture of Russian-speaking residents of Australia is a part of Russian linguoculture, but it has its own peculiarities caused both by the nature of community formation and its relative isolation. The research methods were semantic and discourse analysis. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact that it is the first full-fledged study of the linguocultural image of Australia. At present, most studies of similar topics are focused on linguocultural images of Russia's neighboring states, while we strive to set a nuanced and more diverse vector of attention in the study of linguocultural images. Also, most researchers, studying linguocultural images, do not pay attention to the peculiarities of small linguistic communities that are part of larger entities. As a result of the research the key concepts-components of the complex conceptual formation, which is the linguocultural image of Australia, have been identified. Simple concepts are considered, as a result of which the conclusion is made about the image of Australia as a secluded, detached from the rest of the world place, where the usual rules operate exactly the opposite, extremely different from Russia, but inevitably reminiscent of it.
