The 2024 event "Cinema in the Digital Age" brought together Russian specialists in social philosophy, anthropology, sociology, and cultural studies. The formal mission of the conference was to popularize cinematographic research in small towns and regions. In fact, the last conference was devoted to methodological issues (cinema studies), the problems of the connection between the perception of cinema and bodily reactions, the transmission of values, the construction of narratives, and the circulation of ideology. The logic of the sequence of reports was built from general methodological topics related to perception, bodily experience, to cinematic narratives. The methodological trend of the conference is an appeal to specific examples from the cinematographic industry (case studies). The event was based on the principles of an interdisciplinary approach and combined epistemological, axiological, socio-philosophical and anthropological issues. The study of cinematography at the systemic methodological level in Russia is still a relatively young area of scientific practice. The conference was not aimed at copying Western studies, but at the same time took into account some achievements of foreign scientists in the field of cinema studies. The originality of the content of the scientific event was founded on the complex nature of philosophical, sociological, legal, cultural issues. Most of the studies were carried out within the framework of case studies, which made them methodological examples, allowed to learn about the trends in cinematography, but at the same time imposed restrictions on the use of conclusions. This article is an overview of reports and abstracts with an addition in the form of a constructive and critical assessment. The review is focused on a prolonged discussion and expansion of the research audience within the framework of cinema studies, the development and popularization of related issues and correlating topics.
