This analysis demonstrates mixed convection effects on fluid behavior and heat transfer in thermally stratified environments.
This paper aims to provide a clear view of the fluid behavior and heat transfer characteristics in mixed convective flow of non-Newtonian fluid obeying the Maxwell model due to stretching of a permeable surface embedded in a thermally stratified porous medium. By applying proper transformations, the equations that govern the flow and heat transport are altered to nonlinear equations and are then solved numerically using the Runge–Kutta method with the shooting technique. The effects of pertinent parameters on velocity and temperature fields are presented graphically and analyzed in detail. Fluid velocity decreases with the Maxwell parameter for either value of the mixed convection parameter, but the temperature is improved in this case. It is observed that the effect of transpiration is to reduce the fluid velocity as well as the temperature. Due to mixed convection, fluid velocity rises, but the temperature is found to decrease in the boundary layer region. It is also established that fluid velocity augments, whereas the temperature at a point reduces with the growing stratification parameter.
