This study aims to identify and describe the ecotourism potential of the Rana Mese Lake Area, East Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. This area is known for its strengths in biodiversity, natural landscapes, and local culture, which can be developed into ecologically-based tourism attractions. The approach used in this study is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques including direct field observation, in-depth interviews with stakeholders and local communities, and literature review from relevant sources. The results of the research show that the Rana Mese Lake Area has several ecotourism potentials, including the natural lake, waterfalls, diverse flora and fauna, and natural caves that have not been extensively explored. In addition to its natural potential, the area also features rich cultural heritage, such as the traditional Caci dance, the Barong Wa’e ritual, and traditional palm wine processing. All of these potentials indicate that the Rana Mese Lake Area is suitable for development as an ecotourism destination, while still taking into account aspects of conservation, cultural preservation, and local community empowerment as part of sustainable management.
