Examination of syntypes led to reclassification of Porizon meridionalis as Diaparsis meridionalis, indicating its distinctiveness.
Syntypes of the Oriental species Porizon meridionalis Morley, 1913, deposited in the Museum of Genoa (Italy), have been examined. The species is found to be a distinct member of the genus Diaparsis Förster, 1869, resulting in the new combination Diaparsis (Diaparsis) meridionalis, comb. nov. The lectotype female from Myanmar is designated. Colour photographs, redescriptions of both the female and male, and remarks on the taxonomy of D. meridionalis are provided.
