Experimental analysis reveals shear thickening fluid improves vibration control in nonlinear beams, suggesting new structural applications.
This study explores the dynamic behavior of nonlinear beams supported by shear thickening fluid (STF), known for their non-Newtonian properties, where viscosity increases with applied force. We investigate how STF supports affect the dynamic characteristics of nonlinear beams, focusing on frequency responses, energy dissipation, and chaotic behavior in nonlinear regimes. Combining theoretical modeling and experimental analysis, we analyzed our investigated system and observe STF force responses under dynamic loading. Key findings reveal that STF supports introduce complex nonlinear dynamics, enhance vibration control, and exhibit chaotic behavior in certain excitation regimes, making them valuable for advanced structural applications.
