Cluster analysis reveals distinct patterns of alcohol-associated issues in municipalities, suggesting tailored prevention strategies.
Topicality. Alcohol-associated morbidity and mortality remain a serious public health problem in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, especially in the context of territorial differentiation of social and economic conditions. Scientifically based differentiation of municipalities would increase the effectiveness of preventive programs and anti-alcohol measures by adapting them to local conditions and risks. The purpose: conducting a comprehensive analysis of the alcohol-associated situation in the municipalities of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and developing a scientifically based system for clustering territories by the level of alcohol-induced indicators. Materials and methods. The study is based on statistical data for 2023 for 60 municipalities of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. For the analysis, the factor method of principal components, cluster analysis (hierarchical methods and the k-means algorithm), as well as the Kaiser-Mayer-Olkin validity measures and the Bartlett sphericity criterion were used. The data was processed using Microsoft Excel 2021 and IBM SPSS Statistics 27.0. Results. Factor analysis revealed three main groups of factors that explain 78.5% of the variance in the initial data: socio-demographic, economic and health, as well as health and infrastructure. Clustering made it possible to identify four types of municipalities: «Stable well-being», «Social disadaptation», «Economic recession and alcoholism» and «Alcohol crisis». Each cluster is characterized by a unique combination of morbidity, mortality, alcohol consumption, socio-economic and infrastructural indicators. Findings. The alcohol-associated situation in the Krasnoyarsk Territory has a polymorphic structure and is determined by both socioeconomic and geographical factors. The results obtained allow us to propose differentiated approaches to the implementation of preventive programs and anti-alcohol measures, depending on the specifics of the municipal level.
