Observational analysis outlines geological deformations and seismic hazards in the Tien Shan region, indicating the impact of historical earthquakes.
Possibly, the systematic fractures of significant fluvioglacial stony blocks on the territory of the Ornek megalithic complex in the Northern Issyk-Kul region (Tien Shan) in the basin of the Chet-Koisuu River formed during a strong historical earthquake, as well as the displacement of the megalith (cromlech). A medieval burial mound (kurgan) was discovered, which was deformed in the front of a thrust-type fault scarp. It is confined to the zone of the sublatitudinal Kultor border fault separating the Issyk-Kul depression and its mountain rim, the Kungei Ala-Too range. The two-thousandyear- old cromlech is displaced along a sinistral submeridional fault. The materials obtained will help clarify the seismic hazard of the Northern Issyk-Kul region, extend the archive of seismic disasters back centuries, and determine the impact of strong earthquakes on the civilizational development on the Tien Shan. Nevertheless, the reason for the systematics plits of large stony blocks remained undisclosed. It is necessary to conduct additional extensive research of the territory, which is planned to be done in the future.
