This article reveals the profound struggles of the Russian intelligentsia and highlights Gumilev's significant contributions to historical science.
The author sought to use the example of the fate of the son of famous poets of the Silver Age to show in a cross-section the drama of the life of the Russian intelligentsia in the context of a global change of eras. The tragedy of the period under consideration is also given by the realization that the intelligentsia could not change the events that took place, but they were very worried about it, which is reflected in the culture of that time. A study of the biography of Lev Nikolaevich Gumilev leads the author to the conclusion that scientific work was his natural state. The scientific legacy of the historian is so extensive, especially if you subtract from his adult life more than ten years spent in Soviet camps. The article acted as a kind of tribute to the "tireless Eurasian", an awareness of the weight of his contribution to historical science.
