Modeling evaluates radiological consequences of nuclear accidents on FSUE Atomflot vessels, suggesting risks for the environment and population.
In order to enhance the safety of the population and the environment, the paper presents the results of modeling and forecast of the dispersion of industrial radionuclides in the ground atmospheric layer after a hypothetical nuclear accident on the FSUE “Atomflot” floating objects with nuclear power installations when they enter and stay in the port of Sabetta. The threats and potential hazards that various types of vessels with nuclear power installations may impose for the environment and population of the region are assessed by comparing the obtained numerical estimates with the permissible levels of radioactive contamination of the environment for human habitation.
