This analysis demonstrates the anti-inflammatory and bactericidal properties of copaíba oil, suggesting possible applications in polymeric films.
Brazil is a country with great biodiversity and stands out worldwide for its resources. The Amazon has a wide diversity of forest species with great potential for the production of oils and resins used by native peoples and traditional populations for the most varied purposes. Copaiba oil, widely used by natives, is well known for its anti-inflammatory, analgesic, bactericidal and healing properties, being considered a natural antibiotic and highly effective in combating bacteria and infections. This work aimed to characterize copaíba oil from the species Copaifera langsdorffii through physical-chemical and microbiological analyzes for possible uses in the production of polymeric films. The indices collected and analyzed were relative density, refractive index, acid index, viscosity, conductivity, DDPH, ABTS and antibacterial evaluation. The study referring to the analysis of copaiba oil presented results as expected, and which are in accordance with the available literature.
