Systematic literature review identifies effective carbon service trading strategies in mangrove ecosystems, suggesting improved community welfare.
Desa Bagek Kembar, located in Kecamatan Sekotong Tengah, Kabupaten Lombok Barat, has abundant natural resources, including the crucial mangrove ecosystem. Mangroves are one of the most productive ecosystems in the world and have a crucial role in maintaining environmental balance. The concept of carbon service trading is an innovative strategy in efforts to restore ecosystems, including mangroves. The purpose of this study was to identify and evaluate effective strategies in restoring mangrove ecosystems through carbon service trading in Desa Bagek Kembar. To achieve this goal, a systematic literature review (SLR) approach with qualitative methods was used. Based on the evaluation of carbon service trading in Bagek Kembar Village, the mangrove ecosystem in the area showed outstanding ability to absorb and store carbon dioxide, with a potential absorption of 6,437.80 tons of CO2eq and carbon storage reaching 4,287.97 tons of C. Economically, the carbon absorption value contributed Rp. 482,834,700 per year, supporting efforts to mitigate climate change and improving the welfare of the local community. Ecological impacts include coastal protection from erosion, increased biodiversity, and prevention of land degradation. This research is expected to optimize the strategy for sustainable mangrove ecosystem restoration, thus providing maximum ecological and economic benefits.
