Comparative analysis reveals highest Rabi splitting for prism-shaped nanoparticles, suggesting significant impact of shape on coupling dynamics.
The study of light matter interaction with atoms in cavity traces back to 1990’s, but recently, after 2018, there is a drastic increase in the number of articles on 2D transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) coupled to metal nanoparticles. Strong coupling in these systems depends on the volume of the cavity, and taking note on that we investigated the effect of various shapes of metal nanoparticles on the Rabi splitting using FDTD simulations. We found that the Rabi splitting is highest for prism shaped nanoparticle because of its smallest mode volume. Further it is also shown experimentally that similar value of splitting as the simulations are observed.
