Analysis finds optimal maintenance periods for inspection equipment, suggesting longer lifespans for certain devices.
Periodic inspection equipment for vehicles includes exhaust emission inspection equipment, noise level, brake, front wheel alignment, headlight capability and radiance, and speedometer. All of this equipment is often used without definite maintenance schedules or service life estimates. A common obstacle in the field is the lack of an efficient maintenance period for the equipment. Consequently, sudden breakdowns can disrupt operations. Data was collected from 14 vehicle inspection agencies, each handling 70-90 inspection vehicles per day. After the goodness of fit test was carried out, the data was found to follow a Weibull distribution. Therefore, this study aims to estimate the service life and efficient maintenance period for vehicle inspection equipment using the Weibull distribution. The longest estimated service life was for the noise level inspection equipment, at 19.2 years, while the shortest was for the speedometer inspection equipment, at 13.3 years. The longest estimated maintenance period was for the gasoline emission inspection equipment, at 5.5 months, and the shortest was for the front wheel alignment inspection equipment, at 4.9 months.
