Analysis reveals fracture-driven interference impacts in shale oil wells, highlighting the effectiveness of diversion technology.
To address fracture-driven interference (FDI), the Changqing Oilfield of PetroChina has significantly reduced fracture hit rates through geological-engineering integration, combining seismic and logging interpretations to optimize fracturing designs. Real-time pressure response adjustments during operations, coupled with staggered fracture placement and diversion technology, have proven effective. This study analyzes a shale oil horizontal well platform in the Ordos Basin using multi-method monitoring (high-frequency wellhead pressure, microseismic, tracers) to evaluate fracture communication and diversion effectiveness. Key findings include: (1) Fracture hits may dissipate during shut-in or flowback without impacting oil production; (2) Sole reliance on pressure changes to assess diversion effectiveness is unreliable; (3) Diversion technology significantly mitigates FDI. These insights provide critical guidance for optimizing fracturing designs and evaluating diverters in the Ordos Basin, demonstrating that integrated monitoring and adaptive strategies are essential for managing inter-well interference in heterogeneous reservoirs.
