The article reveals the pedagogical impact of modern Ukrainian periodicals on primary school children. The peculiarities of the methodology of using children’s periodicals in the educational process and beyond are determined. The importance of alternating classroom and extracurricular activities with the use of modern children’s periodicals is emphasized and the effectiveness of a smooth transition from one topic to another with compulsory homework in grades 2-4 is indicated. The effectiveness of the use of multimedia teaching aids, which help children to delve deeper into the material of magazines and perceive it more emotionally, has been experimentally tested. The article highlights the titles of the most popular modern Ukrainian periodicals for primary school children and analyses the compliance of their content with the State Standard of Primary Education of Ukraine. The cycle of research activities to determine the pedagogical potential of children’s periodicals for primary school students, which is based on a didactic, game-based approach, is described. It is proved that the awakening of students’ general interest in children’s periodicals creates conditions for the identification of their individual abilities, the ability to conduct research observations. Such work allows for an in-depth study of the mental characteristics of students, the study of their intellectual level, and also affects the ethical and aesthetic development of students.
