Analysis reveals how translation methods impact emotional content in German texts, suggesting challenges in maintaining stylistic integrity.
The study aims to identify the translation features of rendering augmentatives in German-language literary texts into Russian. In this work, augmentatives are understood as words with a semantic component of augmentation, belonging to emotionally expressive vocabulary. In German, they are usually formed with the help of affixoid elements that hyperbolize the meaning expressed in the root. The article discusses the transformations used in translating literary texts containing augmentatives from German into Russian. Particular attention is paid to the problem of preserving the emotional-evaluative charge and the author’s style. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that, within the framework of the German-Russian translation paradigm, the specifics of transformations characteristic of translation of German-language augmentatives are identified and described, taking into account their morphological features, stylistic charge, and pragmatic effect in the text. The results of the study contribute to the understanding of interlingual asymmetry in the field of evaluative vocabulary. It is shown how different translation solutions affect the preservation of the author’s style and the emotional impact of the text.
