Case series shows intrathecal fentanyl provides effective analgesia in patients with pulmonary artery hypertension, indicating its potential for complex surgical cases.
This case series introduces a safe analgesic approach for patients with pulmonary artery hypertension (PAH), scheduled for dilatation and curettage. This technique, which involves the use of intrathecal fentanyl alone, was found to provide adequate analgesia for the procedure. The first case in the series had a local anaesthetic allergy, and the second case had Eisenmenger syndrome with oxygen dependency; both cases had uneventful intraoperative periods with the above anaesthetic technique. We believe this technique is promising for managing such challenging cases in the future.
