Synthesis revealed distinct hydrogen-bonding patterns in two benzenesulfonamide derivatives, suggesting unique structural properties.
Two new benzenesulfonyl derivatives, N -(2-iodophenyl)benzenesulfonamide, C 12 H 10 INO 2 , ( I ), and N -(4,5-difluoro-2-iodophenyl)benzenesulfonamide, C 12 H 8 F 2 INO 2 S, ( II ) were synthesized and structurally characterized. In both molecular structures, the conformation of the N—C bond in the –SO 2 —NH—C segment is gauche relative to the S=O bond. For ( I ), the crystal packing is dominated by N—H...O hydrogen-bonding interactions that link the molecules into chains extending parallel to [010]. In the case of ( II ), the molecules are linked by N—H...O(S) hydrogen bonds into dimers that are located on centers of inversion. These findings are consistent with the results of Hirshfeld surface analyses.
