The article demonstrates improved road maintenance quality using telematics, highlighting its role in enhancing road safety.
The article considers the issue of improving road safety. One of the directions for solving this issue is to improve the quality of road maintenance work performed by road machines. This direction can be implemented based on the use of specialized on-board telematics hardware and software. That allow assessing the functional state of the working bodies of road machines and, on this basis, monitoring the quality of the technological operations performed, that is, performing the function of the control system, which is currently performed by the operator of the road machine. The article considers the implementation of this approach based on the processing of the acoustic trace formed by the drive mechanisms and working bodies of road machines. The relevance of the topic is substantiated by the fact that at present there are no scientific me-thods for quality control of technological operations of road maintenance work performed by road machines. The lack of objective methods for assessing the quality of the completed volumes of work creates conditions for poor-quality work and, consequently, creates conditions for reducing the level of traffic safety on the roads.
