Observational study assessed dysphonia relief using antihomotoxic therapy in hearing-impaired children and special educators, suggesting significant improvements.
Introduction. Dysphonia, as an early symptom in response to airway alterations of various origins, significantly reduces the quality of life of patients and limits their social activity. In this context, the rehabilitation of voice disorders in hearing-impaired children and specialists of schools for aural rehabilitation against the background of acute respiratory infection is of particular interest. Involved in inflammation and experiencing increased loads, the speech apparatus determines the need to improve therapeutic and preventive technologies, which include antihomotoxic therapy. Purpose. To conduct an observational clinical study of the effectiveness of relief of the dysphonia symptom complex with a multicomponent homeopathic remedy with multidirectional action during the convalescence after acute respiratory tract inflammation in children with hearing disabilities and teachers of special needs educational institutions. Materials and methods. A prospective, observational study involved 29 patients di vided into 2 groups: the first (n=15) included children [7-14 years old; median: 9.2] with hearing disabilities, and the second (n=14) included teachers of special needs educational institutions for children [33-57 years old; median: 41.6] providing hearing and speech support who sought medical help during the epidemic season of acute respiratory viral infection. The degree of dysphonia was assessed on a 5-point scale of the visual analog scale. The follow-up included 2 visits: during the first visit, dysphonia was confirmed and treatment with Homeovox was prescribed at 2 tablets 5 times a day; during the second visit, the effectiveness of treatment was monitored after 2 weeks. Results and discussion. Voice disorders after a respiratory infection were manifested by variants of hoarseness and coarsening of the timbre of the voice, accompanied by soreness and dryness in the oropharynx, sore throat, and dry paroxysmal cough. By the end of treatment (day 13-14) with the drug Homeovox, dysphonia and the quality of voice function improved. The method of questioning the subjects before and after treatment showed the effectiveness of antihomotoxic therapy. Conclusions. In the early period of convalescence after an acute respiratory viral infection, it is advisable to prescribe the drug Homeovox® according to the official instructions to relieve the symptoms of voice impairment in people with hearing disabilities and teachers providing aural rehabilitation.
