Analysis reveals splenopathy prevalence linked to age and breed in dogs, suggesting targeted monitoring.
A correlation has been established between the frequency of spleen pathologies of various etiologies and age, and a breed predisposition to the development of splenopathy in dogs has been determined. The group of dogs aged 5 to 11 years turned out to be the most vulnerable, while cases of diseases in puppies were extremely rare. We have assigned dogs of the following breeds to the risk group: Boxer, Bernese Mountain Dog, Poodle, Labrador and German Shepherd. In this group, up to 57.8% of all cases of splenopathy were detected, including hemangiosarcoma, the most common tumor diagnosed in dogs aged 8 to 13 years (75% of all splenic neoplasms). We have not identified any sexual predisposition to the development of splenopathies.
