Experiment reveals chromium picolinate enhances metabolism and weight gain in young cattle, suggesting optimal dosing.
The paper presents data on the effect of chromium picolinate in the diet of young cattle on chemical element metabolism and growth characteristics. Experimental group I was supplemented with chromium picolinate at doses of 6,5-10,2 mg per head per day and group II – 7,1-11,2 mg per head per day. According to the results of the experiment, the best of the two doses of chromium picolinate was 7,1-11,2 mg per head per day, as it had a significant effect on the live weight gain at the end of the experiment of 3,4 % and better assimilationin the average daily gain of 7,7 %, through the activation of metabolic mechanisms and excellent absorption of most micro- and macroelements. For the 6.5-10.2 mg dose, these values were 2.1% and 5.8%, respectively. If you increase the dosage of chromium picolinate in the diet, you can notice opposite changes in retention and assimilation of macro- and microelements, on the basis of which the body of the bulls increased assimilation B, Be, Ca, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, I, K, Li, Mg, Mn, Na, Ni, P, Se, Si, Zn and the assimilation worsened of Al, As, Pb, Sn, Cd.
