The East Asian Collection of the University of Chicago Library is home to one of the largest collections of Manchu printed and manuscript books in North America. Particularly notable within the Manchu collection are several manuscripts that reflect aspects of Manchu literary culture underrepresented by more widely-circulated print sources. This article highlights three such manuscripts from this collection, all previously little-known to scholarship: a divination manual, a student’s notebook, and a vernacular literary miscellany.
