Review highlights youth empowerment through agriculture for economic growth, pointing to key improvement areas.
Youths in Nigeria, having taken the greater part of the country’s population, have the needed capacity to effectively change the narratives of the nation’s economic and developmental activities. This paper aims to review youth’s empowerment through agriculture as a tool for economic growth and national. Having reviewed different literatures, it was therefore noticed that many empowerment programs in agriculture, considering their importance to the economy, were put in place by the government. Yet many of these youths often find it difficult to access the programs due to one reason or another. The following recommendations were made: that government should focus attention more on involving the youths in decision-making processes concerning issues that affect them, creating awareness of the programs’ existence among the youths, minimizing corrupt practices among the officials handling the programs, ensuring prompt and timely execution of the said programs, and simplifying the bureaucratic processes involved in most of the programs.
