Quantitative study shows self-compassion and adaptive humor styles improve psychological well-being in students, suggesting holistic approaches.
The psychological well-being of Indonesian students is crucial to understand due to life pressures, making it essential to study the role of self-compassion and adaptive humor styles. This study investigates the role of self-compassion and humor styles in the psychological well-being of students. A quantitative survey design was employed, involving 261 students from Bandung. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using multiple regression. The data obtained were analyzed using multiple regression analysis techniques to identify relationships and influences between variables. Results indicate that self-compassion has a considerable influence on a number of psychological well-being aspects, such as self-acceptance, environmental mastery, life purpose, and personal development. Maladaptive humor types, such aggressive and self-defeating humor, have a detrimental impact on autonomy, while adaptive humor styles, like affiliative and self-enhancing humor, help with aspects like constructive relationships and personal development. The significance of combining adaptive humor and self-compassion as tactics to enhance students' psychological health holistically is emphasized by this research.
