Prototype design of a solar pv charging station for electric vehicles, highlighting g2v and v2g operations.
Nowadays the consumption of Electric Vehicle (EV) vehicles is getting more due to reducing the pollution in the environment and to reduce their maintenance costs on vehicles (regarding fuel costs). So, the future is going to be with EV’s only and to reserve our fossil fuels for future generations. So, the key shortfall of the EV’s was that they are not efficient for too long-distance travelling purpose, because the mileage of the EV’s is less compared to fossil vehicles, and the accessibility of the charge stations are very less. To overcome this problem, this work was aimed to introduce the effective concept of designing Solar PV charging station with EV technologies. This paper focuses the prototype design of the solar PV based charging station using EV technologies. The vital concept of this charge station is to charge the EV’s with the help of renewable Solar resource and with a backup facility of Grid connection too. The proposed concept utilizes the solar illumination directly to charge the batteries of the charging station through the relays. Also, whenever the solar energy was not able to accessible due to environmental conditions, the relay switches to access the charging from grid foe the electric vehicles (G2V) and vice versa (V2G). In addition to this operation, the proposed work is also aimed to performing the Vehicle to Grid operation (V2G) too. To achieve this G2V and V2G operation, an Arduino support emerging technology was used in the proposed work to minimize the load disturbances in transmission lines or grid. The proto type results obvious that, the proposed design concept of charging the electric vehicle through G2V and V2G technology enables the effective utilization of electric and hybrid electric vehicles for long distance travelling purpose and achieves the pollution free environment.
