This review discusses the insulation properties and standardization of C4F7N in gas insulation systems, indicating its potential in replacing harmful gases.
C 4 F 7 N is a promising gas for environmental protection and replacement of sulfur hexafluoride, an electrical insulation gas with a strong greenhouse effect. In this article, the preparation technology, insulation properties, thermal stability, discharge decomposition characteristics, arc extinguishing performance, material compatibility, and biological safety of C 4 F 7 N are reviewed; Secondly, the research and development, application status, and operation and maintenance experience of gas insulation equipment are analyzed; Then combined with the domestic and international standardization work foundation and development trend of C 4 F 7 N, the C 4 F 7 N standard system framework is proposed, the development direction of key standards is planned, and the related technology research direction is discussed and prospected. It is pointed out that systematic research and development should be carried out for the detection technology of C 4 F 7 N gas mixture humidity, mixing ratio, impurity content, decomposition products, portable detection equipment, gas recovery equipment, etc.
