Cascaded controller enhances load frequency control in a power system, indicating improved performance through whale optimization.
The ability of a power system (PS) to balance generation and demand is its most important requirement. The generation frequency is affected by the sources that make up the power system and variations in the load. When combining renewable and non-renewable energy sources, a power system needs to be as stable and controllable as feasible, with the least load variation. The load frequency control is crucial for achieving frequency balance in the power system. An intelligent, cascaded fractional proportional integral-fractional proportional integral derivative (FPI-FPID) regulator is suggested in the current work to manage a power system’s LFC. The optimal controller parameters are found using the whale optimization technique. The chosen regulator’s potential is evaluated in an interlinked dual-area thermal station. The efficacy of the preferred controller will then be assessed on a 2-area PS that employs both traditional and non-traditional energy sources. The two test cases simulation outcomes demonstrated that the propound controller furnish superior performance. The ruggedness of the preferred controller is supervised by differing the parameters.
