Narrative review consolidates knowledge on anterior cutaneous nerve entrapment syndrome, highlighting clinical characteristics and diagnostic criteria.
ACNES is frequently overlooked as a potential etiology of abdominal pain and discomfort, thus leading to its neglect as a diagnosis. The essential identification of this syndrome is imperative for the proper treatment and alleviation of associated symptoms. This review intends to consolidate existing information regarding Anterior Cutaneous Nerve Entrapment Syndrome (ACNES), with a focus on its pathophysiology, clinical characteristics, diagnostic criteria, and treatment modalities, followed by a case series highlighting diverse presentation of this syndrome.
