Bibliometric analysis demonstrates rising trends in green innovation and sustainability for MSMEs, indicating significant research needs.
This study conducts a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of sustainability and green innovation within the context of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), with a focus on the intellectual, conceptual, and thematic evolution of the field. Data were collected from the Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) databases for the period 2002–2025, resulting in a final dataset of 337 relevant publications after a systematic screening process guided by the PRISMA framework. The bibliometric analysis was performed using Biblioshiny (R Bibliometrix package), encompassing both performance indicators such as publication trends, citation impact, and authorship productivity, and scientific mapping approaches, including keyword co‐occurrence, thematic evolution, and collaboration networks. The results reveal a significant increase in scholarly attention to MSME sustainability and green innovation, particularly in recent years, highlighting the growing relevance of eco‐innovation, circular economy practices, and sustainable supply chains. Moreover, the study identifies critical research gaps, emphasizing the need for future investigations into digital green innovation, financial and policy constraints, and comparative analyses across regions and sectors. These findings provide valuable insights into the development of the field and offer a foundation for advancing both academic research and practical sustainability strategies for MSMEs.
